Some sad news happened in Toronto this past weekend. A Ghanaian mom with two young boys was stabbed brutally and set on fire by her ex. It was reported that her body was not even recognizable.
Toronto Police say the accused, Emmanuel Owusu Ansah 30, layed in wait in the darkness of 4 a.m on Saturday for Takyi as she left for her waitress job at Toronto Pearson Airport . The accused was out on bail for domestic violence against the same woman just last month.
This sad news has crippled the whole African community in Toronto. Bridget's friends say she was a hardworking mom and never missed a day at work. She will be greatly missed by her children and family.
A vigil will be held for Bridget Takyi in the area where her body was found on
Sat, Jan 26 @ Eglinton N Martin Grove (Willowridge) @ 5:30pm
The whole community is invited to come out to the vigil and show your support. I personally do not know this lady but I can't stop thinking about her. I feel in my heart that she could have been my sister. I wish somebody could have saved her that early morning.
RIP Bridget Takyi
I will be attending the vigil. Domestic violence is real but most women who go through it avoid talking about it until it's too late.
